War is Stupid: An Anti-War Podcast About War is now live on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and wherever you get your podcasts, which might just be right here!
I gave my best YouTube™ face for the intro episode, defining the Military-Industrial Complex and the inciting incident for creating the podcast.
You’ll hear me say it, but if you’d rather read it, it’s this: It upset me to see the campus protests about divesting from weapons manufacturers portrayed as antisemitic, despite the many Jewish students who participate in them. In my Judaism, there is nothing Jewish about weapons manufacturing. I was not bat mitzvahed at Lockheed Martin. I did not grow up going to Elbit Systems every Saturday with my family. Raytheon is not my cousin.
My cousins are my cousins—and I hate to see them conscripted into forever wars.
The first full episode, War Benefits The People? covers World War I, which is objectively one of the stupidest wars of all time. Forty million people died because a bunch of cousins (yes, the Kaiser of Germany, the King of England, and the Tsar of Russia were literally cousins—war is STUPID, stupid) wanted to flex.
I’m grateful that the podcast has been well-received by my cousin (a human, not a defense contractor).
Raytheon could never.
